How to Get That Glow

Have you thought to yourself how do some of these celebrities get their beautiful shiny hair and vibrant dewy skin? It helps that most celebrities have nutritionists, trainers, stylists, and make up artists following them around the world to make sure they always look good. Do you wonder if you could do that for yourself? I think what we have to remember is that we have to judge ourselves by a different standard. We cannot all be super models or famous television and movie actors. These people spend hours in the gym daily and hours in the make up chair. You only see them when they look their best. They also have access to the best foods and the best cosmetics money can buy. Try to do what you can within your own schedule and budget. Here are a few things you can do to get that "glow" in your skin.

.) Drink lots of water. Hydration is so important for your skin. If you don't drink enough water your skin will become dry. Don't dehydrate your skin by drinking too much alcohol.

.) Use sunscreen and try to limit your exposure to the sun for long periods of time.

.) Eat fruits and vegetables and unprocessed whole foods. If your diet consists of a daily run to Starbucks for a Tall Frappuccino which is essentially a milkshake, you have to start changing your eating habits. Try to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and protein that is not breaded, fried or drenched in butter. Eat food that does not come out of a box.

.) Get enough sleep. Sleep is the time when our bodies regenerate our energy daily. Getting enough sleep helps the skin repair itself. Tissue repair happens during sleep.

.) Don't harbor anger or resentment. Learn to let go. If you carry everything around with you, you probably have a scowl on your face daily. That scowl will cause frown lines and eventually your face will reflect how you feel inside. Learn to let go. It is good for you.

.) Sweat a little. Working out daily is really good for the skin. The impurities in your pores come out in your sweat. A healthy you is a you with a glow.

.) Get some help. Ask for help when you need it. Get a sitter to give yourself a break from the kids. Giving yourself some downtime will do your skin wonders.

.) Get an illuminator. You heard me. Go to the drugstore or to your local department store and buy an illuminator which is a little tube of glow in a bottle. This will give your beautiful radiant skin an extra boost. After all with all that hard work of eating well and taking good care of yourself, you deserve an extra boost. My favorite is the Nars illuminator.
